Owning a sub-250-gram aircraft or seeing another drone in the air is not permission. Check BHDCA, airspace, border, protected-area, site and land-use requirements first.
Drone operations
Bosnia and Herzegovina's Directorate of Civil Aviation publishes national drone requirements. The framework distinguishes operating purposes and aircraft categories and can require registration, insurance or approval.
Before travel, obtain current written guidance for:
- the aircraft mass and operator status;
- recreational, commercial or aerial-work purpose;
- registration and insurance;
- allowed altitude, distance and visual-line-of-sight conditions;
- proximity to people, roads, buildings and gatherings;
- airports and controlled airspace;
- border-protection areas;
- protected landscapes and local site rules.
Do not copy rules from Croatia, the EU or a drone app and assume they govern Bosnia.
Airports, borders and sensitive infrastructure
Airport and controlled-airspace operations can require specific consent. Border areas also have special restrictions. Avoid government, military, police, industrial and other sensitive sites unless permission is unambiguous.

Follow staff and community guidance. Put the camera down during prayer, funeral activity or private grief. At war museums and memorials, accurate context matters more than dramatic posing.
