Bosnia and Herzegovina's passenger railway is not a nationwide high-frequency system. It is a limited network with one journey that can become a highlight: Sarajevo to Mostar through the Neretva valley.
Choose the train because the exact service fits—not because rail is assumed to connect every major destination.

Passenger information is provided through separate railway companies in different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Travellers should not expect one national booking interface to display every possible service.
For Sarajevo, Mostar, Konjic and other Federation services, start with Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine. For services operated in Republika Srpska, use the current official information from Željeznice Republike Srpske.

Sarajevo to Mostar
The line follows mountain and river scenery that a driver cannot fully appreciate while concentrating on the road. When the timetable works, rail can be calmer than a bus or rental car.
